Social Service Update October 2016
This month Social Service will be collecting new and slightly used Halloween costumes for those that have trouble affording all the wonderful costumes that have become so popular. In my day we dressed up in a sheet and became a ghost!
Costumes will be collected at both the evening meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18th and the Friday, Oct. 28th afternoon meeting and delivered to the Human Needs Food Pantry . You'll find a gray basket in the front door area for you to drop off your contribution. Thank you so much for making this time of year a bit spookier for our community children.
Many thanks to all for contributing to the state Women's Club Boatsie Box project. Clubs in Liberty district will use the $115 we collected at our opening luncheon to provide a little Christmas cheer in the form of stockings filled at our state headquarters for our Soldiers to open at Christmas far away from home.
Next month we will be collecting canned fruit and olive oil for Thanksgiving at the Human Needs Food Pantry. Those items are the ones that the Pantry really needs. They get contributions of other items from different sources so canned fruit and olive oil in plastic containers are welcomed and most desirable. Collections will be made at both of our monthly meetings.
Also during the month of November we will begin looking at items on the wish list of the Salvation Army's family that will be assigned to us. I have already spoken to the Salvation Army and they have a family in mind for us. The family is currently living in the Salvation Army shelter and the mom has been conscientiously looking for a job. Let's give her family as much of their wish list as possible and wouldn't it be great if she found a job!
Thank you in advance for your support and for giving a little to those in our community who have less.

Social Service Update November 2015
Thank you Ladies! Your generous contribution of socks was much appreciated by The Human Needs Food Pantry. We filled three large bags with socks totaling over $350. Again, thanks to all who took time out of their busy days to buy socks on short notice.
As the winter months approach, The Pantry is aware of the need for new socks, as well as shoes and gently worn winter coats. If you can donate any of these items, please feel free to bring them to our next meeting on Friday, Nov. 6th or on any future meeting date until Tuesday, Nov. 17th.
And speaking of thank you, the month of November is upon us, which of course includes making plans for Thanksgiving. The Pantry has asked our Women's Club specifically to help those in need celebrate with canned fruit and olive oil. They do not like to accept donations in glass containers, however, since olive oil often comes in glass and is such a sought after commodity, they will accept it in any container. New socks, gently worn shoes, coats, olive oil and canned fruit are all highly desirable and hopefully providing these items will remind us all to be thankful for what we have and have the opportunity to share with those in need.
It is also time to contact The Salvation Army and select two families that need Santa donations to make their holidays merrier. Information on who they are and what they are wishing for will be made available after the families are chosen. Looking forward to working with women to makie a difference.

We also welcome donations from Non-Members who would like to participate in our Social Service Programs.
